Why It Matters
Responding to Vulnerability with Respect
Household hardship, food insecurity, unexpected emergencies and social exclusion can place significant strain on individuals and families. Effective humanitarian action begins with listening to communities, assessing needs fairly and offering support that protects dignity.
IFES Foundation is developing a community welfare approach that connects immediate, practical assistance with local partnerships and longer-term wellbeing.

Proposed Programme Activities
- Needs-based food assistance and essential household supplies.
- Targeted support for families and individuals affected by financial hardship.
- Social inclusion and appropriate community support for older persons and people with disabilities.
- Responsible, proportionate response to emergencies or disasters when authorised and resourced.
- Hygiene, sanitation and non-clinical public-health awareness initiatives.
- Referrals to appropriately qualified service providers and relevant public services.
How We Will Work
Our Principles
- Dignity Treat each person with respect and protect their privacy.
- Fairness Assess needs through clear, transparent criteria without inappropriate discrimination.
- Safety Protect children and adults at risk through suitable safeguarding procedures.
- Accountability Track assistance and report accurately on programme delivery.
- Partnership Coordinate with local organisations and competent authorities where appropriate.
Our Intended Direction
We aim to build small, well-managed projects based on verified community needs before expanding responsibly. We will not present a proposed intervention as an existing assistance service until the necessary arrangements are in place.
