Why It Matters

Creating Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods

Women and young people contribute enormously to their families and communities, yet many face barriers to training, employment, markets and the resources needed to establish or expand a livelihood.

IFES Foundation aims to support practical pathways towards economic inclusion by combining relevant skills, entrepreneurship support and personal development.

Planned Areas of Support

  • Practical vocational and technical skills development.
  • Entrepreneurship awareness, enterprise mentoring and small-business skills.
  • Employability preparation, career guidance and apprenticeship links.
  • Financial literacy and responsible income-management education.
  • Leadership, confidence-building and personal development.
  • Partnerships with capable training providers, employers and community groups.

How We Will Work

Preserving Our Skills-Training Heritage

Technical education and vocational training were part of the Foundation’s original purpose. Future economic empowerment activities may draw on this experience while broadening access to relevant skills and livelihoods opportunities for women and young people.
