Why It Matters

Why Education Matters

A child’s education can be disrupted by poverty, family hardship, exclusion and a lack of learning resources. Without suitable support, these barriers can limit confidence and opportunities for years to come.

IFES Foundation seeks to help reduce avoidable educational disadvantage and encourage children to remain in, return to or progress through appropriate learning opportunities.

Planned Areas of Support

  • School access and retention support for disadvantaged learners.
  • Essential learning materials, textbooks, uniforms and school supplies, where appropriate.
  • Scholarships, bursaries or targeted assistance subject to programme criteria and funding.
  • Remedial learning, mentoring, academic guidance and positive development activities.
  • Appropriate referral and support for out-of-school or at-risk children.
  • Community awareness that promotes the value of education and child wellbeing.

How We Will Work

How We Intend to Work

Programmes will be designed around assessed needs, clear eligibility criteria and safeguarding arrangements. Where regulated schooling, examinations or professional services are involved, the Foundation will work only through appropriately authorised institutions and personnel.

Long-Term Goal

To help children overcome barriers to education so that more learners can gain confidence, remain engaged in schooling and pursue meaningful futures.
